Christian Ethics in Ukraine

The personality development of a young person and the forming and shaping of him into a fully valuable member of society is tightly bound to the learning process in school. In our society many values are being passed on that are going against biblical principles. It is therefore very important to us, to influence the development of the coming generations through the teaching of Christian values.

Since 2000 a new course of Christian Ethics has been introduced in the secondary schools of Rivne and Rivne region. Through this platform we support the spreading of Christian values amongst Ukrainian teachers and students.

At the beginning stage of establishing the new course, the Educational Department of Hope to People under the direction of Alexander Bondarchuk did a huge amount of work. Apart from that they did a lot to promote cooperation between the educators of various education departments of Rivne and Zdolbuniv, school principals, and teachers.

Weekly clubs for librarians, methodical educators and Christian Ethic’s teachers are open and functioning at the headquarters of our organization. In these clubs vitally important questions are being discussed, and mutual support is given in the problems, which they face in their work and life.

We actively participate in the meetings of Christian Ethic’s teachers and librarians in order to pass on the experience we already have.

A basic audio and video CD-, DVD- database, created by our organization, became a huge support for the teachers of Christian Ethics. The topics of the video materials are rather broad (Creation of the universe, drug abuse, AIDS, abortion, children movies that teach forgiveness, kindness, and love, etc.). Teachers can use the video material in their classes as a basis for discussions with their students.

Today Christian Ethics is taught in a good number of secondary schools in fourteen Ukrainian regions.
