Сamps 2009
Winter Soccer Camp
Christian team from Rivne spent 5 days in the Carpathian Mountains. From January 6 to 11, 2009 the boys from Christian soccer club “Nadia” (“Hope”) had an opportunity to spend part of their winter holidays in one of fantastically beautiful places of Ukraine – the Carpathian Mountains (Polyana village, Svalyava district) .
Twenty five children and teenagers ranging in age from 10 to 16 years participated in the camp activities. There were 5 counselors on a team with Coach Alexander Gonchar as a director.
The theme of the camp was: “Guys, I think, I’m in trouble” (taken from the same called manual for children, which was used for the lessons during those days). The course was designed for the study of the Book of James (the Bible, New Testament). Counselors tried to emphasize that people see our real life from the way we behave at home, when our teachers do not see us, etc.
Each morning the camp participants filled in the lessons from the manual. In the evenings kids had worship service. During the day, they skied, climbed the mountains, and played soccer in the snow.
On Christmas Eve the campers tried creating a festive atmosphere. Candles were lit, and all were listening to the story about the One Who was born, and what relation the One, Born that distant night, has to us today. Then kids wrote the Christmas cards with the best wishes to each other. All that touched all the campers; no one was indifferent.
During the last night children shared their impressions from the camp, and many admitted that did not expect that it would be SO interesting. They were impressed by the course, fellowship in the groups, atmosphere, and the living conditions.
Those who went to the Christian camp for the first time were especially impressed.

Speakers of the camp were Alexander Kalinski, Anatolii Pishchaliuk, Yuriy Lishchinski, Stanislav Prominski, Andriy Bortniychuk. The age difference was the camp’s peculiarity; nevertheless, despite this difference, people were united by God in a big, friendly family.

The atmosphere of unity was felt in all the camp activities: starting with the morning exercises that were extreme for many people, to the evening fellowship. The Christmas program was held on January 8, in the evening; all the young people sang songs about the Savior Who was born.
